our good friends sarah and finn came to visit us in dc this past weekend. they make for a pretty adorable couple, right? the three of us went to juilliard together. in fact, i was reminding them over dinner last night about how i witnessed one of their first conversations in the juilliard lobby after class. i was the awkward third wheel who just didn't get that i should keep walking and give them some space. haha. i'm pretty sure i stood there for an entire 20 minutes waiting for them to wrap up their conversation so sarah and i could continue to make our way back to the dorm. awkward.
anyway, eleanor is such a fan of them both so she was in heaven their entire visit. thanks again for coming, friends! we are already missing you.

a few days ago, eleanor and i went strawberry picking with our friends carissa and rinah. we picked some of the most beautiful and ripe strawberries i've had. and despite our efforts, eleanor maybe sampled every strawberry in the field by taking a bite out of it. oops!
i had big ideas of what i wanted to make with these strawberries, but somehow, one big bowl-full at a time, they've been disappearing from our fridge much faster than anticipated. thanks for coming with, friends! we love your company.

a couple of weeks ago, josh and i painted a chalk board wall for eleanor in her nursery. i have long loved chalk board walls in homes (i painted one for myself in my first new york city apartment, and josh and i have had one in every space we've lived in together, too-- see here, here, and here). i can't wait for many afternoons of coloring with eleanor on her little wall over the next couple of years.
ps. linking all those old posts just made me so nostalgic! i can't believe what has taken place since i drew that countdown to my wedding on my old new york city apartment wall! if you would have told that version of myself from five years ago that i'd be coloring on a chalk board wall with my daughter here today in washington dc, she wouldn't have believed you... in fact it's still hard for me to believe.
yep. i think she likes it.
*we used non toxic chalk board paint from our local paint store and don't worry, i've been diligently wiping up that chalk dust at the end of each day.

my little sister, rachel, is married! um. that's weird.
but anyway, the day was absolutely lovely.
the wedding ceremony (which we call a sealing that takes place inside a temple) was beautiful and my little sister was glowing all day long.
rachel had the fabulous amelia johnson photograph everything... and if you've ever seen amelia's work, you know that means some gorgeous images of the day are coming soon. rachel's beautiful dress was the creation of her twin sister, rebekah! and since my other sister and i don't have those kind of mad skills but still wanted to contribute something special to rachel's day, we made the little wedding cake and her hair piece, too. (with rebekah's help, of course.)
and all the flowers by holly chapple stole the show. the prettiest bouquets i've seen! there was also the cutest little flower girl in attendance. i mean, just look at eleanor in that tiny little flower crown. so cute.
congratulations, sister!
